Its been about a week so I though I'd give a quick update on everything.  This was the last week of "vacation" and I'm actually looking forward to having school.  There has been so much time off that you being to lose track of what day it is.  I've basically been been heading to the beach almost everyday, usually Coogee, just because that's the closest.  I can then head to a number of beaches, like I had said before, on a beautiful walk that connects each beach together.  I took my board out for the first time yesterday and it did really well. All the patches and fiberglass I placed on it held and the board was great.  I caught some waves, although not standing, but road it laying down for a long time. It's hard to get the feeling of when the wave actually has you on a surfboard and you move so much faster than I predicted.  I was paddling and then next thing I knew I was shooting forward to the beach. I just have to get that feeling down more and actually remember to push up onto the board.  But I loved every second of it and paddled around, which is a workout but relaxing at the same time.  The lull of the waves almost hypnotizes a person and I could have spent all day just sitting under the sun.
The nights have been spent out at Pubs or around the campus.  We headed over to a dorm called the Unilodge (one of my friends lives there) and you can go up and bbq on the roof, which grants spectacular 360 views of Sydney.  It was a great night and will be over there again soon.
Also, my friends and I are planning a trip to Thailand, because a buddy of mine has a good friend who lives there.  So that should be really exciting.
And to finish, a quick bus story...

The major transportation around the city is the bus system, which really runs well.  We got on a bus to head back to campus from Coogee in the evening and rode like any other day.  After about 10 minutes we started to smell smoke and then some yelling insued soon after.  We perked up to see what it was and in the back of the bus five sixteen year old girls we smoking cigarettes.  A lady had called them out on this, for surprisingly, you just cannot smoke in a enclosed bus.  The girls started screaming obscenities at the woman and then at others who even looked at them.  The bus driver pulled over and stopped the bus and vowed not to move until they had left.  We probably sat for twenty sweaty minutes on that bus until people started getting really agitated because the girls would not leave. People began more to shout more and the girls finally began to move. They headed off the bus but not before they got to spit in a mans face.  The bus rolled on and my good thrill was over. The bus made its next stop, lurched to a halt and was about to move again, when a huge bang exploded throughout the bus.  I thought that the girls had slashed one of the tires and it gave out. Another bang and then a smash gave out again and people began to panic. The bus screeched out and sped away luckily getting away from the girls, who were throwing rocks and bottles at the side of the bus. The windows were cracked, but that was all.  So, my first good bus story.  There you go
Take care all,
Alex
